On The Road
The Climate Action Plan includes plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through significant reductions in VMT (vehicle miles traveled) within the city limits. Vehicle exhaust accounts for approximately a quarter of Boulder’s greenhouse gas emissions.
There are three basic ways to reduce your carbon footprint from transportation: drive fewer miles, or drive a more efficient vehicle, or use a renewable fuel.
Vehicles
There are a number of vehicle purchase decisions you can make that will impact your carbon footprint, including vehicle size and fuel type. There are also driving habits you can practice to reduce emissions from the vehicle you own today. For more information on vehicles, click here.
Fuels
There are several locations in Boulder where residents can purchase renewable fuels. You may own a vehicle that can run on renewable fuel and not even know it! For information on available fuel choices, click here.
Alternative Transportation
Boulder is committed to reducing the number of vehicle miles driven by making alternative transportation options easier to use. GO Boulder strives to develop a sustainable and balanced transportation system that supports the quality of life valued by area residents, employees and visitors.
